2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This
section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification or recommended for additional
information or as examples. While every effort has been made to ensure the completeness of this list, document
users are cautioned that they must meet all specified requirements documents cited in sections 3 and 4 of this
specification, whether or not they are listed.
2.2 Government documents.
2.2.1 Specifications, standards, and handbooks. The following specifications, standards, and handbooks form a
part of this document to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise specified, the issues of these documents are
those cited in the solicitation (see 6.2).

2.4 Order of precedence. In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited
herein (except for related specification sheets), the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this
document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained.
3. REQUIREMENTS.
3.1 General. The requirements for acquiring the product herein shall consist of this document and MIL-PRF-19.
3.2. Interface and physical dimensions. The resistors shall meet the interface and physical dimensions specified in
figure 1.
3.3 Power rating. The power rating shall be 2.0 watts for taper A and 1.1 watts for tapers C and F at an ambient
temperature of 40OC.
3.4 Torque. The torque required to effect rotation shall be not less than 1.2 ounce-inch nor more than 6 ounce-
inches. The torque applied through the operating shaft to the stops shall be 8 pound-inches. For locking-bushing
type, the control arm shall not move when a torque of 30 ounce-inches is applied to the shaft after the locking nut is
tightened with a torque of 10 pound-inches.
3.5 Mechanical rotation. The mechanical rotation with or without a switch shall be 290O minimum and 305O
maximum.
3.6 Actual electrical rotation. The electrical rotation with switch shall be 220O minimum and 285o maximum; without
a switch 290O minimum and 305O maximum.
3.7 Pure tin. The use of pure tin, as an underplate or final finish is prohibited both internally and externally. Tin
content of resistor components and solder shall not exceed 97 percent, by mass. Tin shall be alloyed with a minimum
of 3 percent lead, by mass (see 6.4).
